The Department of Sports and Health Sciences – Academy of Wellness and Human Development co-organized a sports arbitration demonstration with The Hong Kong Bar Association and the Department of Justice, Hong Kong on 9th October 2025. Over 100 sports and legal professionals attended, including barristers, solicitors, elite athletes, coaches, and sports managers. Dr. Horace Cheung, Deputy Secretary for Justice, Dr. Kennedy Wong, Chairman of the Council and the Court, and President Alex Wai of Hong Kong Baptist University graced the event with opening speeches.

The demonstration featured a dispute involving a squash injury. A hearing included cross-examination and witness testimonies, mirroring real-life hearings. The event received very positive feedback, particularly regarding the arbitration demonstration. It signals a promising start for cooperation between HKBU, the HK Bar Association, and the Department of Justice in the sports industry and sports arbitration.
