The Chinese Writers’ Workshop (CWW) hosted its “Distinguished Chinese Writers Series 2024” (DCWS), inviting Mr. Han Song, a renowned science fiction writer from the Mainland, as the 2024 Distinguished Writer to share his insights with readers during a literary public lecture and a writing masterclass held online on 30 and 31 October, respectively.

Launched in 2020 with the generous sponsorship from the Tin Ka Ping Foundation and founded by the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU), CWW is dedicated to promoting contemporary Chinese literature and culture and showcasing its diversity and rich aspects to society, the nation and the world. Every autumn, CWW invites a distinguished Chinese writer from different places around the world to visit HKBU.

The literary public lecture commenced with the welcome remarks from Professor Alexander Wai, JP, President and Vice-Chancellor. He expressed his hope that this event would inspire more young literary talents and encourage them to write their own stories in Chinese, thereby inheriting the treasures of Chinese culture. Both events had ended in success and were well-attended by a number of participants including public readers as well as students and staffs from HKBU.

Mr Han Song currently works in the media in Beijing and serves as the Deputy Director of the Science Fiction Committee of the Chinese Writers Association. He is renowned for his unique imagination and profound philosophical writing style.
