Keynote by Prof. Daniel W.L. Lai at the Greater Bay Area Forum on Elderly Talent Development

The inaugural Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Greater Bay Area Elderly Talent Development Forum was held at Shenzhen Polytechnic University on 31 August 2024. Organised by the Healthy Elderly Research Centre at Shenzhen Polytechnic University, in partnership with the Shenzhen Healthy Elderly College, the College of Medical Technology and Nursing, and the Shenzhen Social Welfare Association, the forum aimed to address key issues in elderly care.

A highlight of the forum was the speech by Prof. Daniel W.L. Lai, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at HKBU and Vice President of the Hong Kong Association of Gerontology. He emphasised the critical role of professional quality in advancing healthy aging, drawing from his extensive research and practical experience.

Throughout the discussions, participants reached a robust consensus on the need for enhanced collaboration between universities and industries, fostering the integration of education with industry to elevate the professionalism and skillset of elderly service professionals.
