The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) successfully hosted the “Training and Sharing Workshop for Academic Career Paths” on 13 October 2025, bringing together aspiring academics from across the globe. This year’s workshop was held in collaboration with six prestigious institutions: The University of Chicago, The University of Michigan, Seoul National University, The University of British Columbia, Nanyang Technological University, and The University of Melbourne.
As part of the annual International Doctoral Symposium, the workshop welcomed over 50 PhD students and postdoctoral fellows from around the world. It provided a platform for participants to explore academic career development and gain insights into global hiring practices and research opportunities.
This year’s featured speakers included Dr. Stephanie Hilary Xinyi Ma from Nanyang Technological University, Dr. Qiuping Pan from The University of Melbourne, and Dr. Zhiying Ma from The University of Chicago. Each speaker shared their unique academic journey and offered practical advice on transitioning from doctoral studies to faculty positions. Their presentations inspired thoughtful dialogue and encouraged participants to reflect on their own professional goals.
The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences continues to champion international collaboration and support the next generation of scholars through initiatives that promote academic excellence and career readiness.
