Jointly organized by the Centre for Applied Ethics at Hong Kong Baptist University and the Dicastery for Culture and Education, the CAE AI Conference 2024, themed "Social and Ethical Issues in AI from an East Asian Perspective," commenced with great enthusiasm on 16-17 October 2024. This event aims to address the new challenges and opportunities presented by Artificial Intelligence.
The conference features 21 speakers from diverse philosophical and religious backgrounds, representing academia, industry, and various national and ethnic groups. Together, they explore the unique challenges and prospects that AI presents to Asia.
The Dicastery has previously collaborated with North American scholars, leading to the publication of “Encountering Artificial Intelligence: Ethical and Anthropological Investigations”. This conference seeks to highlight perspectives from Asia, a region notable for its significant population and rapid technological development, emphasizing the importance of including its voices in the global dialogue on AI.
